Victor Chiarizia

Bio

Victor Chiarizia has been exploring the world of glassmaking since 1975. In his journey, he has trained countless techniques including blown, flameworked, cast, etched, and sandblasted. His one-of-a-kind style is a combination of Italian-American heritage and a boundless imagination.

Chiarizia's talent has been acknowledged all over the world, with commissions from Barney's New York, Tiffany's, AT&T, Royal Caribbean-London, The Palace Hotel in Beijing, and the Dubai Conrad Hilton in UAE, among many others. In addition to his commercial success, his work has been adored by critics, alike.  He is a 2-time Winner of the NICHE Award for Excellence in Flameworked Glass and a Winner of the 23rd Annual Habitat Glass Invitational Jurors Award Museum of Art and Design. Through this commercial and critical success, Chiarizia has continued to innovate within his techniques and evolve within his style.

Chiarizia's best known work is his limited-edition vessels which feature his use of Incalmo, a 500 year-old Venetian technique. Incalmo is an intensely skillful, and physical process requiring the artist make cup-shaped vessels which are then connected on the blow pipe.  The artist uses this technique to produce a wide array of stunning patterns and textures, some organic, some geometric.
